Black Dolls, New York Historical Society, Museum and Library.
I was, and still am elated to have participated in this groundbreaking event. I shared a photo of me with my collection of black dolls, which was included with a slide show of contemporary doll collectors and their black dolls.
From January – June 2022, the exhibit immersed visitors in the world of hand made black dolls and examined the racial stereotypes in American history with black dolls made by African American women from 1850 – 1948.
The Black Doll Exhibit is now at The Strong National Museum of Play from September 23, 2023 – January 7, 2024. Rochester, New York.
